More Weekend Happenings

Lazy Friday night dinners prevail in my house and we had just received a coupon from Papa John's. Though not our favorite, it was a good deal, and we had to feed two teenagers, so we went for it. The coupon was for online ordering only, which is fine, we've done that before.

However, after going through the whole thing, it asked for the coupon code. And there wasn't one printed on the coupon. We looked around to see if the special was listed online, but nada.

So Hubs calls them up, asks for the manager. Phone guys says manager is busy, can he help? Hubs asks the question. Phone guy says, let me get the manager. Sigh.

Hubs explains to manager, who tells him, too bad, if he wants it, he'll have to call the 1-800 number for corporate. Outstanding customer service, don't you think? Hubs said no thanks.

So while I hopped on the other computer to order from somewhere else, he fired off a complaint email to Papa John's.

I ordered a 3-topping XL from another place. It arrived with 2 toppings. Another sigh.

Apparently, we weren't listening to the universe trying to tell us we should have gone with Thai food.

I think I am going to start being more complimentary when I get GOOD customer service!

As for the rest of the weekend:

Movie: The American - I give it a D. Boring, predictable, plot that's been done before, with an unrealistic lack of visible human beings, even for small Italian towns. Sad because I like George Clooney.

Movie: The Fighter - Better than I thought it would be, as I don't usually like boxing movies. I'll give it a solid B. Truthfully, the only reason I gave it a shot was because of Mark Wahlberg, and he didn't disappoint.

And a piece of advice - don't go to the nursery to "look" at plants for ideas, if you aren't prepared to spend the next three hours ripping out a garden bed and replanting it. Which may be exactly what I did Sunday afternoon.

I've had similar experiences with ordering food. But as the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Meaning.....fast food = minimum wage.

Haven't seen those movies.

Mary is the garden expert here. I couldn't care less, but if I take her to a garden center, I know from experience to a)make sure there is plenty of money in the bank, and b)forget about the next umteen hours.

Oooooh, pizza? Yum! sorry it was such a bad experience. I know what you mean about customer service. It's so frustrating!

I haven't seen those movies, either. The last one we rented was "The Town." It was okay...I'm ready for Water for Elephants!!

I couldn't agree more about the customer service. When it’s good, even mediocre, just getting the job done I’m elated. I recently sent a thank you note to Macco for some car repairs they did for us. Yes, the customer service was great, yes they did a nice job of the paint, but what really got me? They cleaned my car. They vacuumed all the gooey things plastered to the carpet, threw away the crusted Kleenex, and wiped away finger smudges. I nearly cried. It’s the little things that make such a huge difference!

I'm willing to give Mark Wahlberg a lot of credit. I would have laughed at other people taking that role but there's something about him I just respect. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY.

That's normal, right?

Maybe you'll have a great follow up to this telling us how Papa John's sent you some free pizza! We have had so many crazy experiences at Red Robin with customer service and problems with food. I can definitely say for them, though, that they are serious about responding to your complaints and making up for it. I think that's why we've gone back despite it all.

So sad when you get poor customer service from a major company, and have to go through impossible red tape to make a complaint. By the time your complaint goes through, you're exhausted and will have completely forgotten why you were complaining in the first place. I'm think that's why the red tape, to wear you down and make your forget. Just wrong.
Haven't seen either movie. My weekend was so forgettable, I can't remember what we did.
