Good And Bad About Birthdays
Link up with Stasha at The good life for Monday Listicles. It's a different topic every week - follow along and join in. Stasha's a great host and always has interesting things for us to make our lists about.
This week's list is about all things Birthdays.
10 things I like and don't like about birthdays.
1. I love putting thought and effort into the perfect birthday gift for someone.
2. I don't like struggling to find any gift that someone might appreciate, when I'm blank for ideas.
Funny how I never can tell which way it's going to go.
3. I love making birthday cakes. For other people.
4. I don't really care much about eating cake. I'd rather have pumpkin pie.
I'm an October birthday.
5. I love an excuse for a party. Birthdays are perfect.
6. I don't like being the center of attention, so I don't like parties for me.
I know you don't believe that, since I have a blog that I practically beg you to come read.
7. Getting older means more aha moments, more wisdom, more life experience.
8. Getting older means more aches, more pains, more creaks and more things gravity has moved to new locations.
Ironic, isn't it?
9. I love the big birthdays: 16, 18, 21, 30. Yes, I liked 30.
10. I don't so much like all the rest that happen starting with 31... of which I've experience more than I care to count.

Awesome List! #9 especially :)
You're a good birthday cake baker, and I suck at it! We are total opposites! (-:
I love the big birthdays too. Don't much like the gravity going south thing! (-:
40 was a nice one, or would definitely have warranted a party, but my family "thinks" I don't like surprises and don't like to have a big deal made over me....Apparently nobody in my family (except my son's friends) reads my blog! As for birthday cake, I could eat it every day...as a matter of fact, I think I'll make one tomorrow! Great idea! Thanks for suggesting it! :)
I like going to other people's birthdays too. My own, I can do without thank you very much!
So glad young are going to be 30 forever. Funny I love every desert appart from BirthdY cakes. I'll take pie thank you very much!
I hate the present struggle too. I always put so much pressure on myself to find the "perfect thing". I really like #7 too. So true.
I love picking out gifts of others too. But these days, things seems so rushed that I don't get around to doing it so much anymore. And sounds like you are still young with many more birthdays to celebrate.
I agree, I hate people fussing over me too. No parties! They drive me nuts.
I can't believe you liked 30. I absolutely HATED that one, and I nearly went bananas. Worst ever, ever, ever. It's cute that you'd prefer pumpkin pie to birthday cake!
I really enjoyed all the big birthdays too, and to be honest, I'm actually looking forward to forty... it's a big birthday warranting a big, huge party!
I guessed that about you...the fact that you don't like being the center of attention. Funny thing is, I think it happens anyway because of the amazing person that you are. You can't help but stand out!
Have an Awesome Monday, my friend.
Terri
I love it when I find what I think is "THE" perfect gift for someone too.
I will confirm that getting older comes with more creaks, aches & pains having just played in a ball tournament over the weekend and I was just the scorekeeper. Kidding...sorta. HA!
yup, i agree with 6 7 8
pumpkin pie is quite delicious. I love your lists!
I don't like it when they sing to you at restaurants. I hate being stared out. My husband tried it once... I almost divorced him over it
Love the like/don't like aspect of your list. Great idea!
Loved the pros and cons of your list, but I have to say, I'm a little freaked out about you not caring for birthday cake. Perhaps you shared too much? :) Ellen
My 40th birthday was really fun. Quiet, but fun. The milestones do have a special feel to them.
love that you included what you like/dislike about birthdays. I'm anti-pie so we'll have to agree to disagree.
I would totally love to eat pumpkin pie rather than cake!! That's hilarious.
I will also take it as a pumpkin cheesecake or pumpkin ice cream.
I imagine since it is YOUR birthday, if you'd want to bring out the birthday pie, no one should give you a hard time! The candles would still work inside. :)
#6 is so true for me, too.
